Meet Regina | Calgary Portrait Photographer
Today I’d like you to meet Regina: a kind, generous, fun girl and a great friend. She has a cool name that means “queen” and it is not pronounced like the city capital of Saskatchewan. It is rather RYEH-gee-nah with a hard “g”.
With three gorgeous outfits in hand and beautiful spring weather, we took to the heart of Calgary for some fun portrait shots. It was followed by a mini interview where we talked passion, fashion and all things favourite.
Regina, what do you value the most in this world?
Family ties, friendship and love.
And what are you passionate about? What draws you to it?
I have many passions and some I want and will pursue a little later in life. I have a passion for art, music, theatre, dance (ballroom/ballet/jazz), photography and fashion. Simply (at most times) a combination of beauty and complexity of each of those passions/interests draws me to them even more.
What inspires you and how?
I can find inspiration in just about anything. Experiences filled with travelling around the world, reading a deeply moving novel, learning something new every day, conversations with friends and family, making people smile and bringing happiness to everybody, waking up to the sound of birds chirping and a smell of fresh coffee….Life itself is an inspiration filled with many treasures. Many things I keep learning throughout life inspire me in a certain way and make me grow spiritually and intellectually.
What are you currently reading? Any great quotes you’d like to share?
I’m currently reading the “Moses Code” by James Twyman and later ordering pretty much all of Haruki Murakami’s novels. One of the greatest quotes I read in a STORY magazine recently was by the artist Tamara de Lempicka: “Life is a constant journey and you always need to make sure to pack light for your journey in order to bring back whatever you acquire from it.”
What is your favourite movie?
I’m an old “everything” junkie and especially movies. Some of my favourite movies are Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Apartment, Office Romance, Cranes are Flying, Autumn Marathon and An Affair to Remember.
The best dancing song is…
Ah, do I have to answer this? Of course it’s by Dead or Alive –”You Spin Me Right Around”. Remember our fun days dancing at the club to it? [laughs].
Haha…those are to be never forgotten. What’s your favourite place in Calgary?
Strolling around Kensington and 17th Avenue can be quite pleasant.
What influences your sense of style?
It can be anything from a heroine from a black and white film to a street style around the globe. To me, mixing vintage pieces and modern is ultra-chic and always works to make an impression.
Do you have any favourite brands?
Michael Kors, Zara, H&M, Club Monaco and Marc Jacobs are my ultimate favourites and go to brands.
Merci Regina et mille bisous!
