A cold winter day is perfect for a throwback to an early fall when I had a pleasure capturing beautiful Sue for The Inner Ignition.Beautiful portrait of a woman in the filed of yellow flowersSo who is Sue? I see her as a courageous young woman, who is funny, smart and adventurous. She is caring and supportive, and has an amazing smile that lights up the place wherever she goes.Walk with a smile | Calgary PhotographerIt’s been a lot of fun photographing her as we explored Edworthy Park in Calgary moving from one spot to the next while warming up with hot tea in between.

I’ve asked Sue to share her thoughts about the experience and what it meant to her as well as a few personal details.Connect with yourself | Calgary Portrait PhotographerBut before you dive into our interview, I’d like to extend a big thank to the creative team who was involved in this photoshoot:

Stylist & creator: Jessica Yu from The Inner Ignition

Hairstylist: Jean El Hajje from Hair Art Salon & Spa

Makeup artist: Nina from Hair Art Salon & Spa

Ms Sue: Strong. Beautiful. Powerful.Always smile beauty Sue, when was the last time you’ve had your photos taken professionally?

Not since my sister’s wedding in 2009.

What did this shoot mean to you? What made it special?

It was so exciting and something I don’t think I would have ever thought I would have enjoyed. I did as it was something I have never done before on my own and was very much out of my comfort zone, so it was an opportunity to break out of my comfort zone and focus a bit more on me. I think what made it special was the ability for me to  make my own outfit and reflect as to what my inner goddess actually was, and to have built a relationship with myself, and Jessica making me feel very safe and special.

[As part of The Inner Goddess experience, Jessica provided some coaching and helped Sue design her own bracelet].Look up and tell me what you see | Calgary PhotographerWhat inspired your outfit? How did you come up with it?

Well, Viking Goddess is what I wanted when we were going through things that I felt were my strengths. After doing some research, I fell in love with the look. It’s so natural, but strong. I honestly thought I would be in some long flowy Greek goddess outfit, but then this look captured my true inner goddess much better.

What does success mean to you?

Having every pillar in my life aligned with my core values; being able to give back and contribute to society, and to know that I made an impact.Viking goddess inspired shootWhat quotation or saying motivates you to be yourself and do what you  love?

“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we will ever do.” Brene Brown. “You only live once, so make it worth something!!!”

What’s your favourite thing to come home to after a long day of work?

A hot bubbly bath or hot tub!

If you were given one more hour per day, what would you do with it?

Cook really amazing Food!
