Smoke Show Nicole
Nicole is an ambitious, positive, and active girl, who wears many hats. She’s the University of Calgary student looking forward to graduation. She’s the model at the Patti Falconer International Model and Talent Agency. She is a passionate volunteer wanting to save all the kids and animals of this world. And she also works for a jewellery company.
Together we wanted to do a photo shoot that would be fun, feminine, full of spring colours, and embody the elements of fashion and glamour. That’s how the smoke bomb concept was born.
Smoke bombs are a lot of fun to use and come in a variety of colours. They add a touch of softness, dreaminess, and whimsey to the photos. The result could be quite unpredictable, especially in a windy location. But when you get it right, it’s worth all the effort. To help with the smoke placement and to combat a relatively short span of the smoke bombs, I was lucky to recruit my husband as an assistant (thank you babe!). And so like the three musketeers, on a beautiful Friday afternoon, we headed to Lindsay Park on our smoky adventure.
I’ve asked Nicole to answer a few questions about herself, so you get to know her a bit better.
What are some of the things that currently inspire you?
I’m more inspired by people than things. I believe it’s important to surround yourself with people, who inspire you and you can learn from. I’m very lucky to have many of them in my life. I also hear that I inspire others, which I don’t understand, but it is flattering to me.
What is your biggest achievement?
I achieved some personal and career goals, and I always have a list of things I want to do, but I believe the biggest achievement is yet to come. Since I’m quite ambitious, I don’t consider what I’ve done so far as anything big.
What are you currently reading? Do you have any quotes to share?
I love to read books, and what I love even more is listening to audiobooks. I usually read around 5-8 at a time. I read self-help, business and metaphysical books. Currently, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, “Heart Thoughts” by Louise Hay and many more. I’m a firm believer in positive attitude and thinking.
“Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.”
– Theodore Roosevelt
“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they’re doing.”
– Dale Carnegie
Do you have a mantra or a phrase that you live by?
I believe life is supposed to be fun, and everyone is supposed to have everything they desire. I believe anything is possible, and as long you stay positive and know what you want, doors will open. Also, if you want to succeed you have to have fun and love what you’re doing.
What scares you the most?
Spiders.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate ice cream.
What is your go-to beauty product?
Peelings, peelings, peelings. I love to keep my skin soft, and I’m very sensitive to all the smells. I always have to smell good. Anything that works and smells good I love.
What clothing item could you wear every day?
Long black classy dresses, see through, in interesting patterns, and hats. I love hats!
What’s your favourite eating place in Calgary?
I’m not much of a foodie. If you asked me about the best place to get candy, I would know the answer. 🙂
Merci Nicole et mille bisous!
BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE SMOKE SHOOT
(from left to right and clockwise)
1. Spotting spring.
2. Climbing trees in heels and a balancing act.
3. Rolling up sleeves to hold the smoke bomb. Otherwise, expect burned holes in your clothes – these things are hot!
4. Sometimes the smoke goes the other way and covers your assistant.
