How many times have you heard that confidence is sexy? That in fact it’s the sexiest thing a woman can wear? Do you believe it? I certainly do. There is nothing more seductive than a feeling of self-assurance arising from your appreciation for yourself, your own abilities and qualities.

When you believe in yourself, your inner strength and beauty shine through. Out of a sudden your dress fits better, your eyes outshine your diamonds. You look younger and more beautiful. You have a zest for life and everything is possible.

Once in a while though a doubt slowly creeps in, then another, and another. They almost feed on each other consuming you bit by bit. And before you know it, your sparkle is gone.

I have recently attended an amazing Fashion and Beauty Workshop with a talented photographer, Amanda Diaz, up in Edmonton. On the second day, we touched on a very familiar topic of fears and insecurities.

While we all have them, how we react to them is quite different. I loved the quote by a motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar, that Amanda used in her presentation.

“F-E-A-R has two meanings: ‘Forget Everything And Run’ or ‘Face Everything And Rise’.”

It’s a dark place when a fear grabs a hold of you. I’ve been there. It’s destructive not only to you, but to those around you. Eventually it wears you out. You start to fight back, but it’s not easy. So why wait for so long?

Let us face our fears before they control and cripple us. It’s just an emotion. Respect it. Confront it or comfort. Diffuse and transform it, and let your confidence reign in.
